If you are meeting someone who contacted you through a personal ad face-to-face for the first time, be sure you do it in a public place -- like a coffee shop or deli. Pick a high traffic time of day like the lunch hour. Never have the person pick you up at your home or give out any other personal information until you have met the person and trust them.
